Distinguished
Clown
Corps (DCC)
presented
by UHY
LLP held
their
tenth
annual
Distinguished
Grand
Jester’s
Reception
on
Thursday,
September
22 at
The
Reserve
at Big
Rock
Chophouse.
Guests
enjoyed
friends,
refreshments
and
Parade
Company
sparkle,
compliments
of Big
Rock
Chophouse.
This
year’s
event
was
hosted
by 30
year DCC
member
and 2016
Distinguished
Grand
Jester,
Austin
Kanter.
Kanter
is the
first in
parade
history
to reach
the 30
year DCC
milestone.
In 2015,
he was
joined
by
family
members,
including
five of
his
grandchildren,
for his
annual
march
down
Woodward.
This
year he
will
have the
honor of
leading
this
distinguished
group of
the
area’s
most
influential
business
and
community
leaders
down the
parade
route as
they
trade in
their
business
suits
for
clown
suits on
Thanksgiving
morning.

began in
1983
with
business
leaders
Tom
Adams,
then the
chief of
Campbell-Ewald
advertising
and
Walter
McCarthy,
then
chief of
Detroit
Edison,
who
served
as the
spark in
creating
a way
for the
leadership
to
become
personally
involved
in
helping
The
Parade
Company.
With
over 190
members,
the DCC
is one
of the
parade’s
most
beloved
traditions.
DCC
annual
membership
is
$1,000
per
person
with all
proceeds
benefitting
the
Michigan
Thanksgiving
Parade
Foundation.
