The State

Michigan,
Department
of
Aeronautics
has the
mission
statement
of : “To
promote
long-term,
sustainable
growth
of
general
aviation
throughout
Michigan.”
September
is
Michigan
Aviation
Month in
the
State of
Michigan.
The
Canton-Plymouth Mettetal
Airport
will be
hosting
an open
house on
Saturday,
September
27,
2014,
from
10:00
a.m.
until
3:00
p.m.
The new
manager
of the
Canton-Plymouth
Mettetal
Airport,
Jim
Morency,
announced
a great
lineup
of free
activities.
Morency
said,
"The day
will be
a
special
opportunity
to learn
about
general
aviation
along
with
engine
and
airframe
job
possibilities
for the
future.
We will
have
some
vintage
aircraft
and
plenty
of
static
educational
displays."
The
airport
will
have
helicopter
flights
available
along
with
information
on the
EAA
#113,
"Young
Eagles
Introduction
Flights".
There
will be
a wide
assortment
of
historic
model
airplanes
and
remote
controlled
airplanes
that
will be
showcased.
The
Michigan
Institute
of
Aviation
Technology
will
have a
booth as
will the
Yankee
Air
Museum.
Information
regarding
flight
lessons
will be
available
from
Solo
Aviation.
Also on
hand
will be
docents
and
ambassador's
to
answer
questions
on the
rich
aviation
history
in
Michigan.
The
event
will be
an
opportunity
for
students
to see
if
aviation
might be
in their
wheelhouse
for a
future
career.
