Announcing 3rd Annual FREE Community Health Fair July 28, 2015

DETROIT, MI - Detroit Central City Community Mental Health, Detroit Central City Health Center, Judge Timothy Kenny & Wayne County Third Circuit Mental Health Court, Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority and Wayne County Children & Family Services Community Corrections and are hosting the 3rd annual Community Health Fair on Tuesday, July 28, from 10am to 3pm at the Historic Detroit Eastern Market at 2934 Russell Street, Shed #3. The health fair is FREE and open to the public. RAIN OR SHINE!

The health fair is an opportunity for the community to receive blood pressure checks, health information and basic health services, including drug and alcohol abuse screening, effective treatment for co-occurring disorders, health wellness coaching, HIV testing and counselling and mental health screenings. Representatives from Detroit Central City Health Center, Family Planning, free government assistance cell phones, free dental services, Legal Assistance, Gleaners Food Bank, Housing and Employment resources, and Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous will distribute information. Last year over 400 people attended. A larger crowd is expected this year at Eastern Market since it's Tuesday market day and "Double Up Food Bucks" Day!

Music and interactive activities will be on-going throughout the day. MUSIC - FOOD SAMPLING - PRIZES - ENTERTAINMENT!

At 11 a.m., The Greening of Detroit's Urban Farming Project will celebrate those Mental Health Court members who participated in the six-week program at Eastern Market and will award certificates of completion.

DCC is a private non-profit [501(c)(3)] agency that provides ongoing mental health services, substance abuse treatment, housing and support services to adults in Wayne County. Located in Midtown Detroit, DCC’s staff includes psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, case managers, housing specialists and other professionals who are dedicated to working with individuals struggling to cope with the stressors of illness, poverty and homelessness.
