Beethoven
Violin
Concerto

Acclaimed
German
violinist
Augustin
Hadelich
will
make his
Detroit
Symphony
Orchestra
(DSO)
debut in
April,
performing
the
Beethoven
Violin
Concerto.
Colorado
Symphony
Music
Director
Andrew
Litton
will
conduct
the
performances,
which
will
also
include
Prokofiev’s
Symphony
No. 6.
The
concerts
will
take
place on
Thursday
April 24
at 7:30
p.m. at
Congregation
Shaarey
Zedek

Friday
April 25
at 10:45

Orchestra

and

ABOUT
ANDREW
LITTON
Andrew
Litton,
Music
Director
of
Norway’s
Bergen
Philharmonic
Orchestra,
Artistic
Director
of the
Minnesota
Orchestra’s
Sommerfest,
and
Conductor
Laureate
of
Britain’s
Bournemouth
Symphony,
recently
also
became
Music
Director
of the
Colorado
Symphony.
He guest
conducts
the
world’s
leading
orchestras
and
opera
companies
and has
a
discography
of over
120
recordings
with
awards

America’s
Grammy,

d’Or,

British
and
other
honors.
First
appointed
Bergen
Philharmonic

Director

BBC
Proms
and
Amsterdam’s
Concertgebouw,

as
appearances

Carnegie
Hall.
Litton

Bergen
Philharmonic
record
for the
BIS and
Hyperion
labels,
winning
extraordinary
critical
acclaim
for
their
Mendelssohn,
Stravinsky,
and
Prokofiev
series.

Last
season,
following
stellar
debuts
with the
Boston
Symphony
at
Tanglewood
and his
subscription
debut
with the
New York
Philharmonic
at
Lincoln
Center,
Augustin
Hadelich
made
equally
acclaimed
debuts
with the
San
Francisco
Symphony,
Dallas
Symphony,
and
more.
Last
summer
he
appeared
with the
Los
Angeles
Philharmonic
at the
Hollywood
Bowl,
the New
York
Philharmonic
at Vail,
Britt
Festival
Orchestra,
and
more.
In June
2013,
Hadelich
made his
first
major
orchestral
CD,
recording
the
violin
concertos
of Jean
Sibelius
and
Thomas
Adès
with the
Royal
Liverpool
Philharmonic
Orchestra
conducted
by Hannu
Lintu.
This
will be
only the
second
recording
of the
Adès
concerto,
Concentric
Paths.
On the
AVIE
label,
the
recording
is
scheduled
for
release
in the
spring
of 2014.
Hadelich
has
recorded
three
previous
CDs for
AVIE:
Flying
Solo, a
CD of
masterworks
for solo
violin;
Echoes
of
Paris,
featuring
French
and
Russian
repertoire
influenced
by
Parisian
culture
in the
early
20th
century;
and
Histoire
du
Tango, a
program
of
violin-guitar
works in
collaboration
with
Pablo
Sáinz
Villegas.
For
Naxos,
he has
recorded
Haydn’s
complete
violin
concerti
with the
Cologne
Chamber
Orchestra
and
Telemann’s
Fantasies
for solo
violin.
