Wolverine Bar Association Celebrates Homegrown Stars with the 56th Annual Barristers’ Ball

DETROIT – The Wolverine Bar Foundation (WBF) and the Wolverine Bar Association (WBA) present “Mardi Gras in Motown”, the 56th Annual Barristers’ Ball Saturday, April 8th from 9:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. at the Renaissance Marriott Hotel, 400 Renaissance Dr. in downtown Detroit.

Every year, more than 1,500 leaders from the legal, business, civic and political communities attend the Barristers' Ball to celebrate the best of the Southeastern Michigan Community. This black-tie affair commemorates the Wolverine Bar’s 90-plus years of commitment to diversity, excellence in the legal profession and improvement to the quality of life in the metropolitan Detroit area. This year, the ball will highlight the Wolverine Bar’s ongoing efforts to feed the pipeline to the legal community with Detroit’s youth, our homegrown stars.

“I am a product of the long-standing programs offered by the WBA”, says President Jehan Crump-Gibson. “It indeed takes a village and our efforts concerning diversity and inclusion in the legal profession is a goal we never lose sight of. From our Judicial Externship Program, where we help minority law students gain valuable experience as federal judicial externs to our Minority Bar Passage Program, high school Pipeline Programming and new partnerships with organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters and Pretty Brown Girl, we are committed to ensuring that inner city students gain exposure, garner early interest in the legal field and feel empowered to succeed”.

The Barristers' Ball is the signature fundraiser for the Wolverine Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the WBA. Since its inception, the Foundation has served as a force of change in Michigan. The Foundation has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to area law students, fostered attorney participation in pro bono activities aimed at benefiting the public, and sponsored community outreach programs and seminars on legal issues designed to improve the quality of life in the communities where we practice.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit organization. Table and ticket sales can be purchased at 56th Annual Barristers' Ball. For Sponsorship Opportunities or Table/Ticket Sales, contact the Wolverine Bar Office at 313-962-0250 or email wolverinebarristersball@gmail.com
