DETROIT,
MI –
Keisha
Knight
Pulliam,
the
actress
who won
hearts
as a
child
star
playing
Rudy
Huxtable
on The
Cosby
Show is
heading
to
Detroit
on
October
19, 2014
to
motivate
young
women.
Knight
Pulliam,
who is
the CEO
of Kizzy
Productions
and
founder
of
non-profit
Kamp
Kizzy
will be
joining
Detroit-born,
Atlanta-based
teenprenuers
Kenedi
and
Treasure
Bishop
as a
speaker
at their
first
You Go
Girl
Empowerment
Brunch.
The
event is
designed
to get
young
women to
express,
entertain
and
empower
themselves
through
beauty,
brains
and
business.
A slew
of
celebrities
are
confirmed
for the
afternoon.
“You Go
Girl is
an
online
and
networking
platform
that
connects
women
whose
goals
include
becoming
more
socially
and
financially
empowered,”
explained
Treasure
Bishop.
“As a
university
student,
I’m
learning
that
while
there
are a
lot of
things
you will
acquire
in
gaining
your
degree,
there
are some
things
that are
better
learned
by
experiencing
things
first
hand. We
want to
give
attendees
the idea
to be
the best
in
whatever
they
want to
pursue
and if
there is
something
that you
see
doesn’t
fit you,
go out
there
and
create
it.”
“We
aren’t
special
and we
weren’t
born
with
silver
spoons
in our
mouth,”
added
her
sister
Kenedi.
“What we
have
achieved
comes
with
being
able to
start
over
after
some
ideas
failed
and
continuing
to push
even
when we
feel
like
giving
up. We
want to
give the
women
who
attend a
chance
to meet
some of
the
people
who
inspired
us all
and have
them
teach us
different
ways of
working
towards
success.”
“Keisha
is the
perfect
fit for
this
because
she is
someone
we all
related
to,”
added
Treasure.
“She is
also one
of the
few
people
who have
transitioned
from
successful
child to
successful
adult in
an
industry
known to
put
pressure
on
people.
She
still
went off
to
Spelman
and
earned
her
degree
and
still
gives
back in
so many
ways.
She’s a
woman
that
young
women of
color
can see
themselves
in and
we are
happy
she
accepted
our
invitation
to join
this
conference.”
