residential,
commercial
properties
and
vacant
lots
DETROIT
- Over
25,000
properties
will be
offered
for
purchase,
as Wayne
County
Treasurer
Raymond
J.
Wojtowicz
conducts
the
county’s
online
auction
for tax
foreclosed
properties.
“Foreclosure
is the
last
resort
when
taxpayers
will not
or
cannot
pay
their
property
taxes.
If
foreclosure
is
necessary
I am
required
by state
law to
sell the
property,”
explained
Treasurer
Wojtowicz.
Residential
and
commercial
properties,
and
vacant
lots
located
throughout
Wayne
County
are
available
to be
sold. To
be
eligible
to bid
for
properties,
those
interested
must
register
and pay
your
deposit
by
September
10, 2015
at
waynecountytreasurermi.com.
Several
of these
properties
will not
be
available
in the
October
auction,
so those
interested
are
encouraged
to
participate
now.
All
bidders
must
register
by
submitting
a $2,535
deposit
which
includes
a $35
processing
fee.
Should a
bidder
be
interested
in
bidding
for
multiple
properties,
a
deposit
of
$10,035
is
required.
All
deposits
will be
returned
for
non-winning
bids.
Winning
bidders
will be
required
to pay
the 2015
summer
taxes in
addition
to the
bid
amount
before a
deed is
issued.
New
state
law will
not
allow
participation
by
anyone
who owes
taxes or
has
blight
violations
on other
properties.
“By law
the
minimum
bid for
properties
in the
auction
must
include
the
unpaid
taxes
together
with
penalties
and
interest,
and the
cost of
the
foreclosure
process.
It is
our goal
to
collect
enough
funds to
continue
supporting
essential
county
services
such as
police
and fire
protection
as well
as
schools
for our
children,”
Treasurer
Wojtowicz
noted.
“In
continuing
to
conduct
the
online
auction
we want
to make
sure the
process
is
accessible
to
everyone
who
wants to
participate
and to
increase
much
needed
revenue
for our
local
communities,”
said
Wojtowicz.
