DETROIT
- Eric
Sabree
is the
recently
appointed
Treasurer
for
Wayne
County.
As
Treasurer,
he is
responsible
for the
receipt,
custody,
investment
and
disbursement
of all
county
funds.
He works
on
behalf
of forty
three
municipalities
in Wayne
County
and his
major
goal is
to
maintain
an
effective
and
efficient
administration
of
property
tax
collection
for the
County.
Prior to
his
appointment
of
Treasurer,
Sabree
held the
positions
of Chief
Deputy
Treasurer
and
Deputy
Treasurer
of Land
Management
in the
Treasurer’s
Office.
He
supervised
the
overall
operation
of the
Office
which
included
oversight
of the
staff
and
county
resources
required
to
manage
all
finance,
forfeiture,
and
foreclosure
activities.
Sabree
supervised
the
investment
of the
County’s
funds,
assisted
taxpayers
with
foreclosure
prevention
options,
and
conducted
the
largest
tax
foreclosure
auctions
in the
United
States.
Prior to
joining
the
Treasurer’s
Office,
Sabree
was
Chief
Assistant
Corporation
Counsel
for
Wayne
County.
In his
eleven
years of
leadership
with the
County,
he has
gained
valuable
experience
and the
skills
to
successfully
serve
the
county’s
residents
and
municipalities.
Sabree
has had
a long
public
service
career
with the
City of
Detroit.
During
his
tenure,
he held
positions
with the
Buildings,
Safety,
Engineering,
and
Environmental
Department
and the
Detroit
Housing
Commission.
Before
entering
private
law
practice,
he
served
as the
Deputy
Director
and
Director
of the
Planning
and
Development
Department.
He has
committed
his
working
career
to
providing
quality
public
service
to the
residents
of
Detroit
and
Wayne
County.
After
receiving
his
undergraduate
degree
in
Building
Construction
from
Michigan
State
University,
he
obtained
his law
degree
from the
Detroit
College
of Law,
now the
Michigan
State
University
College
of Law.
He is
proud to
have
attended
Miller
Junior
High
School
and
Catholic
Central
High
School
in
Detroit.
He
enjoys
maintaining
friendships
and
professional
relationships
with
alumni
from all
of his
former
schools.
Eric
Sabree
is a
State of
Michigan
Licensed
Attorney
and is
admitted
to
practice
law in
the U.S.
District
Court,
Eastern
District
of
Michigan,
and the
Supreme
Court of
the
United
States.
In
addition,
he is
licensed
in the
State of
Michigan
as a
Real
Estate
Broker
and a
Master
Plumber.
He
values
community
involvement
and has
a long
history
of
volunteer
service.
He is
the
immediate
past
president
of the
Kiwanis
Club
No.1,
Detroit
and has
committed
twenty
seven
years to
prison
ministry
work,
visiting
prisons
throughout
Michigan,
Kansas,
Indiana,
and New
Jersey.
Currently,
Sabree
serves
as an
Advisory
Board
member
for
several
organizations
and the
Michigan
State
University
College
of Law.
Sabree
is proud
and
humbled
to be
part of
a family
that has
a legacy
of
public
service
that
includes
establishing
constitutional
rights
and
legislation
to
ensure
justice
and
equality
of all
people.
He
continues
the
family
legacy
of
working
selflessly
through
his
efforts
in his
community
of Wayne
County
to help
people
maintain
and
restore
components
in their
lives
that
provide
them
with the
dignity
that
they and
their
families
deserve.
He feels
there is
no
greater
challenge
and
honor
than to
continue
the
family’s
historical
commitment
to
public
service
with
integrity.
Eric is
married
to
Badriyyah
and they
are
proud
parents
of three
adult
children
whose
careers
and
volunteerism
are on
track
for
continuing
the
family
legacy.
