ROSEVILLE, MI (11 September 2017)— National Coney Island (NCI), one of Michigan’s oldest and most recognized coney chains, has joined forces with over 15,000 restaurants nationwide to help end childhood hunger. Beginning September 11, NCI customers who donate $5 or more to Dine Out for No Kid Hungry™ at any NCI locations across Southeast Michigan will receive a $5 Coney Comp Card to use towards their next purchase. The campaign will run in-store only through December 31.

1 in 6 children in the U.S. struggle with hunger each year. That’s 13 million kids whose health, education and futures are in jeopardy. When faced with hunger, studies show students are unable to focus, perform poorly academically and suffer from behavioral and health problems. No Kid Hungry is working to end childhood hunger by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills needed to shop and cook on a budget.

“National Coney Island is a proud partner of Dine Out for No Kid Hungry, an extraordinary campaign working to ensure that every kid receives every meal every day,” said Tom Giftos, president, National Coney Island. “It is an honor to unite with others in our industry to make a measurable difference in the lives of so many.”

Funds raised by National Coney Island will support No Kid Hungry’s work to connect vulnerable children with effective nutrition programs like School Breakfast and Summer Meals, creating public-private partnerships that work together to identify and break down barriers to giving children access to meals.
